The future of the world as we know it rests with the kids sitting in classrooms right now. Eventually it will be their decisions and actions that ensure humanity perseveres forward to a bright and prosperous future. Unfortunately, right now in the world many kids find themselves without much of the necessary equipment to receive a good education. Here at Tech 4 Colombian Kids we believe in the power and impact of a well rounded, thoughtful education. That is why we have made it our mission to get adequate computers into the hands of every child of underserved communities in Colombia. It is our duty to make sure that every child has equal opportunities to blossom and grow to their fullest potential.

lucas azcarate-bonilla

FOUNDER

Lucas Azcarate-Bonilla was born in 2007 in California to Colombian parents. He spent much of his middle school life volunteering for organizations that helped underserved people in his community. He recognized how a helping hand can change the lives of people with immense potential if they are granted the resources needed to let it shine. Then, he joined a group of teenagers during a month-long cultural and educational experience in Spain. This trip made him realize how kids who lack resources are still able to persevere and positively impact their communities if they can access the most basic conditions to a great education. Inspired, he started contacting schools in Colombia to see what necessities they had to provide a better education to their students and combined his love for technology with his passion for helping others founding Tech 4 Colombian Kids. Lucas is currently a junior at Pacific Collegiate School, and loves movies, books, music, and soccer.

kids on computers

Kids on Computers (KOC) is an all-volunteer organization registered in Colorado since 2009 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We set up computer labs in low-income schools using both donated and new hardware. We equip the computers with free and open source software and educational content that is accessible without Internet access. Although the computers can be used to teach software development, the primary purpose of our computer labs is to support learning of traditional academic subjects.
